I hope you have enjoyed my card!  There is a week left to create a "New Beginning" of your own.

Happy New Year everyone!

December 22nd

I have not posted since Monday due to foot surgery that I had yesterday morning.  I will not go into the yucky details, but here is a pic of my foot.  I painted my toenails last night so at least my foot look festive.

I will post something different tomorrow!

Have a very Happy Thursday!

December 19th

This is not going to be a typical post for my blog - but I have a request for everyone that will see this.

I have a friend that has a neighbor that is dealing with a lot this Christmas.  Their 17 year old son is fighting for his life right now and there is a request that everyone send a Christmas card to him so that he will know we are praying for him.  This might be his last Christmas.  The information regarding all that is going on is below.  Thank you for taking the time to read this:

Cindy Chouinard Payne Update on Joshua Ryan Pilger: Today is Friday, 12/16/11. The doctors called Josh's dad and I out of his room tonight to talk. They stated the cancer is not responding to chemotherapy and it is growing. We were given two options. One: we could take him home or Two: We can try a different type of chemotherapy that will hit him hard and hopefully kill it this time. It will be very dangerous as it will knock everything out of him and time will tell if this works. I stated that I want to fight but it is Josh's decision on if he is up for this. We went in the room and the doctors told Josh exactly what he was up against. Without any hesitation, he responded that we were going to fight. THANK YOU GOD FOR GIVING ME SUCH A STRONG SON! I am asking everyone to please pray with everything you have to let him win this battle. We are going to start the new chemotherapy on Sunday morning. And take a minute out of your schedules to send him a Christmas card to let him know that you are praying for him. I want him to know that all of you are behind him in this battle. Thank you! Josh's Mom OSF Children's Hospital, St. Jude, Josh Pilger, Room 406, Peoria, IL 61637

Josh is 17 and a senior at IVC high school in Chillicothe, IL. He likes the Bears. If you could find a minute to drop Josh a Christmas card, his parents and grandparents would be thrilled as I know Josh will be.

I think about the fact that I have a 17 year old daughter, and if I were going through this right now I would want the same thing - for everyone to pray and to let her know they cared.  I would be devastated having to deal with this so it has touched me!  I hope this has touched you as well!

Thank you, Hugs, Meg

New Beginnings - Newly Married

Today I am posting a Newlywed Card for the New Beginnings Challenge at SSCC.  This card means a lot to me because my brother just recently got engaged and I was thinking of him when I designed this card.  I just love the look of this card and hope you will as well!

I cut a black piece of cardstock and then used the Spellbinders Nestability Labels 1 to make the car.  I used other punches for the tires, headlights, steering wheel and then cut the image of the "Newlyweds" for the inside of the car.  I used the Stamping Scrapping Congratulations Stamp Set for the outside and inside of the card.  I used acetate to make the "window" of the car.

Here is the inside left of the card:

Here is the inside right of the card:

I hope this has inspired you to make a "New Beginnings" card for the challenge!  Next week I will show you a Happy New Year project!

December 17th

Today I am posting the Christmas "basket" that I put together for my brother and his fiance.  I am also showing you a close up of one of the kitchen dishcloths that I have made for many people this Christmas.  I hope you enjoy looking at the "basket" that I put together of all of the items I have shown you over the last few days.  I love the gift basket wrap that you can use on things and just shrink it with a heat gun.

Happy Saturday!  Hugs, Meg

December 16th

It is Friday!!!!!  I am so excited that I have been able to maintain posting something to my blog every day this month.  Today I am going to post a scarf that I crocheted for my mom for Christmas.  I don't think she reads my blog so I think I am safe posting it.  But first, I wanted to post a Crafter's Christmas Song that someone sent me.

This is to Winter Wonderland.

Brayers roll...are ya listening?
On the card...ink is glistening
A beautiful sight...we're happy tonight
Stamping in a winter wonderland

In the kitchen we can build a snowman
Then add color to his carrot nose
You'll say:  Are you finished?
I'll say:  No ma'am
I need to add some glitter to the snow

When we stamp...ain't it thrillin?
Even when...the powders spilling
We'll create and we'll play..the art stamper way
Stamping in a winter wonderland.

So here is the scarf:

I love the colors because it will go with anything.  Also, I love this pattern because I can get it done in an evening and it is really pretty.  Here is a closeup of the pattern.

Until tomorrow - have a great day!

December 15th

Today I am posting a gift card holder.  Who doesn't love getting gift cards at Christmas, or anytime for that matter?  It is nice to dress up the gift card!  Here is a pic of the gift card holder, closed up and tied with a ribbon.

I love to use twine on my projects, especially when it reminds me of candy canes!  The inside of the gift card holder has a center section that holds the gift card.  Here is a pic of the inside of the holder, without the gift card in it.

There is a flap on the back, just like the front so that the center section is totally covered on both sides when closed and tied up.

Here is a picture of a gift card inside the holder.

I love how this holder has the notches so that you can easily get the gift card in and out.  If you are interested in the tutorial for this gift card holder, email me and I will either send it to you, or put it on my blog if there is enough interest.

Happy Thursday!

Hugs, Meg

December 14th

Here is a Christmas card that I made with my friends.  It is hard to see that the card itself is sugar cardstock.  It is supposed to look like a door with a wreath on it.  This is a very easy, but fun, card to make.  Hope you enjoy it!

So which do you like better, the bow on the top of the wreath or the bottom?

Have a great Wednesday!  Hugs, Meg

December 13th

The last two days I have posted items for my design team so didn't think I needed to make another kind of post. Today, I am posting some pretzel treats that I made.  I just love chocolate covered pretzels, and I usually dip the entire pretzel into white chocolate that I have melted.  This year I decided to do things a little bit differently.  I used pretzel rods, dipped them in chocolate, rolled them in sprinkles or nuts, and then striped them with a different color of chocolate than I had dipped them in.  Hope you like what I have done.

Jen's Digi Stamps - Color Challenge

Today is the start of Jen's Digi Stamps Color Challenge.  The colors need to be blue, gold and/or silver.  It is hard to see the metallic gold that I used, but it is there!  Hope you like what I have created!  Now, I "challenge" you to create your own and post it on the Challenge blog.

 Happy Monday!

Graduation Cap Tutorial

The Graduation Cap Card is posted on the SSCC Blog as a New Beginnings creation.  The card looks like this:

You will need to begin with a piece of black cardstock that is 5 1/4 x 10 inches.  Score this cardstock at 2.5 and 5 inches.

Mark the sides of the unscored square at 2.5 and then the center top.  Cut off the corners as shown below.

Score the cardstock with an X from the corners to the 1st score line (at 2.5).  See below:

Make so that the triangles fold in and the square top of the cap is showing.

In order to make the pop up, you will need to put binding tape on the bottom triangle area as shown below.  This will cause the "cap" to stay popped up.

Cut a piece of DSP the size of 3.25 x 3.25 inches.  Adhere this to the top of the graduation cap.

I generally use a decorative punch on the corners of the paper.  I then put a flower in the center along with the tassel.

On the back side, you will place a piece of white paper, 3 x 1.5 inches, stamped with the Congratulations stamp from the Stamping Scrapping Celebration Stamp Set.

This will complete the Graduation Cap card.  I hope that you will try making one for yourself!

Happy Sunday!

Hugs, Meg

New Beginnings - Graduation

It is time for me to post another New Beginnings creation for SSCC.  My daughter is graduating from High School this year and will be moving on to college in the Fall.  Therefore, I am posting a graduation card as my second New Beginnings card.

These cards are made to look like a graduation cap.  There is a space on the back to put a sentiment and signature.

If you are interested in the tutorial to make this graduation cap card, please go to the Stamping Scrapping Design Team Blog to see the tutorial.

I hope this inspires you to create a "New Beginning" of your own!

December 9th

Well, I have been posting on my blog for 9 days straight.  I believe that is a record!

Everyone knows that I love those Magnolia stamps.  They are just adorable!  Today I am posting a gift that uses one of the stamped images that I have colored.  I purchased the wooden box and decoupaged it with purple paper.  Purple is my favorite color!  I added some bling and my colored image.  I hope you like what I have done!  Here is the side view of the box!

And, here is the top view of the box.

Happy Friday!  We are now another week closer to Christmas weekend!  Until tomorrow, have a great day!

Hugs, Meg

December 8th

Okay, for today I am posting some gifts that my daughter and I made for some special people.  We made two small terrariums.  We bought the glass at the Dollar Store, the rocks and sand from Michaels, and the plants for Lowes.  I thought they turned out pretty cute.

Happy Thursday!  Tomorrow I have a really cute project!  Can you say Magnolia Stamps??

December 7th

My posting today will be another Christmas Card that I have made.  Yesterday's card and today's card are the cards that I will be sending out for my Christmas cards.  I have made special ones for my parents but when you have to mass produce cards, it is easier to go with something simple.

A little off topic first, today is the 70th anniversary of Pearl Harbor.  It has special significance to me because my daughter's best friend, Kristin, who has been a member of our family since the girls were 3, turns 18 today.  My daughter will turn 18 on the 68th anniversary of D Day.  Now you know why the girls are great friends!  They are both heading off to East Carolina University in the Fall and will be roommates.  It will be a sad day to see them both off, though exciting as well.  They have both been stomping through my house for many years, so it will be VERY quiet without them!

Okay, now for the card of the day!  It is hard to tell in the photo, but the paper is a shimmer paper and really beautiful in person!

Have a great Wednesday!

December 6th

Today I am showing you a Christmas Card that I made with one of my favorite tree stamps.  You cannot see it from the picture, but the tree is laced in glitter making it look like it has twinkly lights all over it.  Love making "window" cards and this was one of my favorite.

Tomorrow, I will post another gift idea for Christmas.  Have a very Happy Tuesday!

December 5th

It is Monday, December 5th and I have another gift as a post today!  I saw this on Pinterest also and thought it was a really cute idea.  I promise to post a card tomorrow - I have one done but just had to show you this.   Let me know what you think of this!

Have a great Monday!  Hugs, Meg

December 4th

Okay, I am posting a little late today because I had another post that I needed to do earlier.  So, now I am posting another craft that my daughter and I started yesterday and I did some more of today.  We saw this on Pinterest also.  I don't think my brother looks at my blog, so I don't think he will know that I am posting this.  We are giving him and his fiance wine and champagne glasses for Christmas.  We painted the bottoms of the wine glasses with chalkboard paint so that you can take chalk and write your name on it so you never lose your wine glass again.  I think it is an awesome idea.

I wish I could find the chalk but someone has moved it from it's place.  I also did some wine glasses where I sprayed frosted glass paint on the glasses first and then painted the bottoms with chalkboard paint.

I also did some champagne glasses with the frosted paint.  You could also write messages on the chalkboard. I am thinking a wine glass needs to be waiting for Jess, my brother's fiance, that says "Welcome Home Honey"!  What do you think?

Well, looking forward to posting again tomorrow!

Hugs, Meg

New Beginnings - New Baby

We are starting a new challenge at SSCC - New Beginnings!  Since we are quickly coming up to a new year - 2012 - we are working on projects that are all about New!  Today I am posting a card for a New Baby!  I have used the Stamping Scrapping Stamp Set called New Little One.  It is the perfect stamp set to use for anything for a new baby.

The great thing about the Stamping Scrapping Stamp Sets is that most of the coordinate with a Spellbinders Die Set so that you can stamp perfectly on your die cute.  I used Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 10 on this card.  I have a friend that is having a baby in the New Year - a little girl.  She was the inspiration for this card.

This is a criss cross pocket card.  The inside card slips into the pocket and is easily pulled out by the tab attached.

My ingredient list for this card is as follows:

Here is a picture of the card that is tucked inside the pocket and a closeup so you can see the beautiful stamps!

I hope this has inspired you to make a creation of your own to enter into the challenge!  I look forward to posting a "New" card next week with another "New Beginning" theme!

Happy Sunday!  Hugs, Meg

December 3rd

Today I am not posting a card on my blog, I am posting something that my daughter made today.  My daughter is 17, and has a boyfriend she has been dating for 2.5 years.  We decided to make some of our Christmas presents today so we were making different items.  She is making a gift basket for her boyfriend's mother and she designed the plates based on something she saw on www.Pinterest.com.  They are really cute, especially if you place your food around the plate to make the face stand out and/or compliment it.  She made 4 different ones.  Here they are:

I will be posting more of the items that we made throughout the week.  We had a lot of fun doing these things together!!

Here is hoping you spend quality time this holiday season with the ones you love!

Hugs, Meg
