Metal Dog

Today I am posting another photo that I took on our vacation in October.  I thought this metal dog was fascinating when I saw it at the Biltmore Gardens and so I took a picture of it.  I love the colors. This dog reminds me of my beagle, Snoopy.   I probably should have purchased the dog and put it in the back yard garden, but just a picture of it now will have to suffice!  Hope you enjoy it!

Polka Dot Bottom Glasses

I showed you some glitter glasses yesterday that my daughter and I made, so today I am going to show you the polka dot bottom glasses that we made at the same time.  Again, the glasses were purchased at the Dollar Store.  We used acrylic paints and a q-tip to make the polka dots and then sprayed the glasses with a fixative so that the glasses could be washed, etc.  We had a lot of fun making these glasses.  As you can see, we used a bunch of different colors but my favorite was the purple and gold ones since these are the colors of East Carolina University.  My daughter is a freshman there this year and both her dad and I went there so we are definitely an ECU Pirate family!

These glasses are great as gifts and can hold anything you might want to give someone - cookies, candies, small present, gift card, etc.  Your options are limitless!

Glitter Glasses

My daughter and I made glitter glasses over Christmas and gave them to friends and neighbors. They appeared to be a real hit.  It was fun making these glasses.  We bought the glasses at the Dollar Store and then used painters tape to make a smooth line at the top.  We painted the glasses with modge podge, sprinkled glitter over them, and let them dry.  After the glasses were dry, we sprayed them with a fixative so that they could be washed after use.  We are definitely going to be doing this again!

These are really easy to do, I hope you will try them.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to you and yours!  I hope that this year finds everyone doing well.  I, for one, am glad to be done with 2012.  2012 was not a good year for me or my family.  I have decided that 2013 is going to be an awesome year and I am going to do everything that I can to make sure it is that way everyday!  I am going to post different things this year on my blog and not just papercrafting, so be ready to see photos that I have taken or other crafts that I have done throughout this year.

When my husband, Dave, and I went on vacation in October, we took a lot of really fun and unique pictures.    Today I am going to post one of my favorite photos that shows a bee on a flower. I took several of these type of pictures.  There were so many bees and so many gorgeous flowers, so you may see several of these types of photos throughout the year.

December 19 - GO ECU!

Ok, so yesterday I talked about the Secret Santa event that we had in my office.  Well, today I am going to show you what I got for my Secret Santa gift.  If you know me, you know that my husband and I both went to East Carolina University and now, our daughter Brittany, has followed in our footsteps and is attending ECU as well.  My favorite color is purple, which fits in perfectly with ECU since their colors are purple and gold.  So one of the items that I received was what is pictured below!  I just LOVE it!

Love that it lights up and love that I can put it on my fireplace hearth and see it from the couch - which is where I am lounging these days after having foot surgery a few days ago.

December 18 - Shadow Box

Every year, we draw names in my office for Secret Santa.  By the way, we use www.elfster.com and just love how it organizes a Secret Santa, allows individuals to ask anonymous questions, allows us to make sure people don't get the same individuals in consecutive years, etc.  This year I got Bonnie as the person I was to do something for.  This has been a bad year for Bonnie so I wanted to do something extra special for her.  I know how much she loves the beach and sea shells, so I decided to cross stitch sea shells and put this in a shadow box with real sea shells.  I was hoping it would come out ok, but it actually was better than I thought it was.  I actually sewed a sand dollar onto the cross stitch section so that it gave it some dimension.  So we have sand, shells, cross stitch and love all incorporated into this shadow box!

She got teary-eyed when I gave it to her.  I think she really liked it!

December 17 - Gift Card Holder

I gave everyone in my office a Starbucks gift card this year for Christmas, so I wanted to make a gift card holder to put it in.  I made an ornament type of gift card holder.  I love the new Tinsel Embossing Powder, which I used on the front of the ornament.
